If you didn’t already know the jury’s decision in Oracle’s long-running lawsuit against Google, you wouldn’t have been able to guess it from looking at either company’s legal team yesterday. Moments after the verdict was read, both sets of high-powered intellectual property lawyers huddled up and spoke softly, without any outward signs that Oracle had just lost… Read More

Jury finds Google’s implementation of Java in Android was fair use
Software developers can breathe a massive sigh of relief — a jury found today that Google’s implementation of 37 Java APIs in Android qualified as fair use. If the jury had found in favor of Oracle, which owns the Java programming language, it may have scared developers away from using other companies’ programming languages in their work — a widespread practice in… Read More

Can Google Fix Android's Biggest Problem?
Google is pissed—or at least that’s what it sounds like when you read Bloomberg’s look into the company’s relationship with smartphone manufacturers. Wyper fancies itself the Tinder of car shopping
The new iOS and Android app Wyper brings the swipe left-swipe right matchmaking magic of Tinder to car shopping. Google quietly discontinues the Nexus Player
The Nexus Player may have been the best TV media player no one ever bought. Google and Asus introduced the Nexus Player back in November 2014. It was one of the first Android TV devices, and a more-than-capable device. And yet, despite Google’s weight behind this device, it hasn’t been a mainstream success, especially when you compare it with the Chro Read More

Pebble announces two new watches and the Core, a pocket computer for runners
“This is Pebble Core,” Eric Migicovsky says with a smile. “It’s our first non-watch product. The simplest way to explain it is that it’s a computer that fits on your keychain. It’s a tiny Android computer without a screen. It has 3D, GPS, Wi-Fi, a little bit of memory and both Android and JavaScript apps run on Pebble’s JavaScript framework.”… Read More
