Android's voice search now recognizes 'hi, mom'


Google has smartened up voice search in Android by making it now possible to call your friends and family identifying them by what they are rather than who they are. Thus, to call a parent, you just need to say "call dad" or "call mom" instead of their actual names. This latest tweak is very much in line with Google's broader strategy of offering utility in exchange for information — in order for the system to work, you need to update your contacts to include their relationship to you.
